CEDEP and its partner Fhi360 under Linkages USAID funded project opened Drop In Centers in four districts, namely; Mzuzu, Mangochi, Blantyre and Lilongwe in 2017.
The DICs are used as safe space for the LBGTI members to access services. The following health services are offered at the DICs; HIV Testing, Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) testing and management, Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) which are provided on weekly basis as an outreach center by the District Health Office. The Drop in centers are also used as information centers.
LGBTI community members can access free internet and reading materials concerning health and human rights. In addition, the centers offers indoor games.
On 5th May, 2018 Centre for the Development of People (CEDEP) awarded two best Human rights Journalists on commemoration of World Press Freedom Day Organized by MISA Malawi at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre.
The event brought together all the journalists in the country, the media houses and other stakeholders. The best Human Rights Journalists winners were James Chavula from National Publication Limited (NPL) and Hudson Bisani from Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS).
